3 lbs russet potatoes, thinly sliced
3 cups heavy cream
1 cup milk
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon butter, for greasing
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
– Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
– In a large saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
– Arrange a layer of potato slices at the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
– Pour a portion of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle with a layer of cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
– Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses until all ingredients are used, finishing with a cheese layer on top.
– Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and potatoes are tender.
– Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
